Have a look at how I edit my client’s manuscripts. I use Track Changes in Microsoft Word for MacBook for marking all the changes and then create a separate file with notes and suggestions and an Unmarked File with all the changes accepted for easy reading for the author.
This is how I do it and my client authors find this way of editing extremely easy to comprehend and work with.
