Hey everyone!
After successfully writing my first draft in June (JuNoWriMo) with a little more than 50,000 words (you can read about it ), I joined Camp NaNoWriMo for this month (July) with a target of 60,000 words.
I’ve been writing non-stop from last one and a half month and I’m going to keep writing till I get this book done 😀
The plan is to revise the first draft and write the second draft along with it. My word count as of Day-13 is 31,415 words and I’m halfway through my second draft. I’m planning to finish 50K by 20th July (fingers-crossed.)
Coming back to my book, Deceived, there are going to a total of about 40-42 chapters. I’m writing this book in various narratives. Following is a chart that Im working with for now:
-
Female protagonist – first person narrative – 12 chapters
-
Male second lead – third person narrative – 12 chapters
-
The teenager – third person narrative – 8 chapters
-
Antagonist (the psychopath) – diary entries – 8 chapters
So far I’m done with 7, 7 and 6 chapters respectively, I’m yet to start the psycho’s diary entries, but that’ll be done at the end as I need to do a bit of research for it.
I’m planning to go mild on the gore stuff because I don’t want anything to work against my debut novel (considering that my main release is going to be in India and people here won’t like outrageously crazy psycho.) Though once this book is released, in my next book I’m going to do just that – the outrageously crazy psycho stuff 😀
Now I’ll be writing the second half of the book and this is where everyone’s lives take a dark turn. This part is going to be quite intense and dark and gory, and I think that’s the reason that I’m starting to have terrible migraine headaches. That’s how it happened last month as well, as soon as I started writing the psycho’s part, I had these headaches and I didn’t get sleep at all for almost 2 weeks. Crazy, right!?
I hope my psycho will stop haunting me soon, because if it continues then I’ll be starting to freak out, and we don’t want that, right? (You can read the working-blurb of this book here.)
The plus point is that if the antagonist is doing this to me, I’m sure that he’ll be haunting my readers as well, and that’s the whole point! I remember reading Duma Key by Stephen King a few months back, I was so freaked out by that book that I used to hide it in my cupboard at the night. lol! Now that, my dear friends, is a really good book, where the writing and the story can create such strong emotions, and trust me, I can already feel it while writing Deceived.
I hope that I haven’t freaked you guys out. I’ll get back to my writing now as I have another 3K to write today. (You can read more about Deceived here.)
I’ll be sharing a new excerpts from my book, Deceived, every month in my newsletters (starting this month.) So, if you guys haven’t already signed up for my monthly newsletter then you can sign-up here.
I hope you guys are having a great week!
Ciao ❤
